Small Ways to Make Your Child’s Life Magical
There are so many ways we can make our children’s lives full of awe and wonder. Here are some great ways!
Leave Them Random Love Notes
Write them special love notes and place in areas where they will eventually find them, like book bags. They will appreciate the effort and feel loved! I try to leave my daughter little notes like “I love you” or “Hope you’re having a great day.” This will not only make their days happier but also, instill thoughtfulness for others in them.
Make Art
There’s magic in opening a child’s spirit to creativity. They get to utilize the part of their brains they don’t necessarily take a lot of time tapping into. Take a trip to the craft store or the dollar store if you are low on funds. Look up projects for kids online and enjoy a day on a weekend making projects.
Buy Them Science Kits
Kids love science and learning. They enjoy making slides with interesting things like hair to see under the microscope. Making potions in test tubes is a blast. Science is so much fun for kids and makes learning fun and memorable.
Take Them to the Beach
Thorough studies have been done which indicate overall wellbeing of a person is far better when a person lives near the beach. Now we have proof that vitamin Sea works!
Put Surprises in Their Lunch Bags
Secretly place little surprises in their lunches before they leave. It could be a small toy, card, memento etc. The little things make a big difference.
Go on Nature Walks
Adventuring into the woods is beneficial in that it resets the mind and instills a peaceful spirit. Bring a pouch to collect mementos like colorful leaves and rocks. A hike stimulates happy chemicals that will make them joyful. The fresh oxygenated air will make them feel alive.
Play the Question Game
Sit together and take turns asking questions about each other. My four year old invented this game and such a basic activity created laughter and joyful moments for us. Ask basic questions like what’s my favorite dessert? Or what is my favorite book? You’ll be surprised how you see their eyes light up when you get their questions right and how they laugh when you get it wrong.
Perform a Silly Skit Together
Make a family video with props and perhaps costumes. It’s even more fun if you dress up. Post on you tube and watch it big on the smart tv. Invite family and friends over to watch the show!
Make a Special Garden
Take a shallow plastic bin, fill with potting soil and create a small garden. They can plan what they would like to create perhaps an herb garden with pretty rocks and sticks. You may need to buy a plant light if they keep it inside.
Jump in Puddles
After a good rain, take them out in snow boots and go to town. It’s also a blast to go out when it’s raining on a warm day and splash away. There’s the opportunity to capture rainbows too!
Have a Dance Party
Make a play list and dance the night away. Great exercise and boosting those happy chemicals will make the children so happy. My daughter and I have Bon Jovi night. So much fun!
Go Camping
There’s something really special about making camp memories in childhood. There’s a feeling of peace and happiness you get when you are in the woods enjoying the sights of rumbling fires, smells of pine trees, taste of smores, and sounds of animals nearby. A camping trip is great for de-stressing creating memories which will last a lifetime.
Learn a New Skill Together
Developing new hobbies together is bonding and really enjoyable. My daughter and I did the hula hooping thing. Now she’s a pro and we hoop together all the time. It’s great when you find a hobby that you can both appreciate.
Go on Picnics
Children love planning out their picnic packs and this provides opportunity for peaceful, quality time with you. It also encourages them to think about healthy eating. Enjoying the fresh air and all that nature gives in the opportunity to relax and embrace each other’s company.
Let Your Child Make a Special Holiday
It’s pretty cool that people can dictate anything awesome in this life including creating their own personal holiday. My daughter decided she wanted to have “I love you day” so I brought her to the bakery and she ordered her own cake and we had a little party in celebration of I love you day! Every year now we celebrate it and she gets to plan a get together for loved ones.
Make a Recipe Together
Look in a cookbook or online site and choose something together you want to make. Go to the grocery store for the ingredients. Have a blast creating fantastic food together.
Go to the Library
The library is magical for little kids. It’s a door to many worlds and motivates them to read and learn new things. When they have their own library card, it empowers them to have make decisions and have responsibility.
